Abrir centros de recepción a los evacuados

 Condado de Lee anunció hoy que se han establecido centros de recepción en los alrededores de la Planta Nuclear de Harris.

Los centros de recepción están abiertos para manejar a evacuados. Esto es sólo una medida de precaución y no hay amenaza al público en este momento.

Diversos organismos condados junto con las organizaciones de voluntarios se personal de los centros de recepción y prestar asistencia a los evacuados, si es necesario. Las ubicaciones de los refugios de evacuación son:

A las 11:09 hoy en día, una emergencia General fue declarada en la Planta Nuclear de Harris en área suroeste del Condado de Wake debido a las condiciones cambiantes.

Shane Seagroves, director de Lee County Emergency Management, dice el centro de operaciones de emergencia del condado de Lee (COE) se ha activado y está plenamente integrada para coordinar las actividades de respuesta necesarias en el condado.

General Emergency Declared at Harris Nuclear Plant
At 11:09 today, a General Emergency was declared at the Harris Nuclear Plant in southwestern area of Wake County due to changing conditions.
Shane Seagroves, director of the Lee County Emergency Management, says the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated and is fully staffed to coordinate any response activities necessary in the county.
Seagroves said conditions both on and off the plant site are also being closely monitored by other county, state, federal and utility personnel.
County, State, and utility emergency response teams are working together to assess the situation. Protective actions will be provided to the public when conditions indicated protective actions are needed to ensure public safety.
At this time, there has been no impact on the safety of citizens living or working in the plant's vicinity and no protective actions are necessary. Should conditions change, information concerning protective actions will be announced. The public should stay tuned to a radio or television stations serving their area.

Cómo prevenir la contaminación de alimentos
Debido a la situación en la Planta Nuclear de Harris, las personas que viven en el condado de Lee (partes de las cuales son dentro de un radio de 50‑millas de la planta de energía) se que se aconseja tomar las siguientes medidas para prevenir la contaminación de los suministros de alimentos:

1. Fondo lavar, pincel, matorrales o pelar frutas frescas y vegetales para quitar cualquier contaminación superficial.

2. Los alimentos que empaquetan o en almacenamiento de información antes del accidente será seguro comer. Sin embargo, debe tenerse cuidado para prevenir la contaminación en movimiento o abrir el contenedor. Alimentos envasados en hermético o contenedores de dust‑proof se pueden utilizar después de lavado y secado de la superficie de la can o paquete.

3. Los alimentos congelados en congeladores herméticos estará a salvo.

4. Cualquier alimento sin envasar, almacenado será seguro comer si el área de almacenamiento fue encerrado y dejar libre de aire contaminado. Si el área de almacenamiento ha sido contaminado, los alimentos pueden utilizables después de lavado, limpieza o peeling.

How to Prevent Food Contamination
Due to the situation at the Harris Nuclear Plant, persons living in Lee County (parts of which are within a 50-mile radius of the power plant) are being advised to take the following measures to prevent contamination of food supplies:
1. Thoroughly wash, brush, scrub or peel fresh fruits and vegetables to remove any surface contamination.
2. Any foods that were packaged or in storage prior to the accident will be safe to eat. However, care should be taken to prevent contamination in moving or opening the container. Foods packaged in airtight or dust-proof containers can be used after washing and drying the surface of the can or package.
3. Frozen foods kept in airtight freezers will be safe.
4. Any unpackaged, stored foods will be safe to eat if the storage area was enclosed and kept free from contaminated air. If the storage area has been contaminated, foods may still be useable after washing, scrubbing or peeling.

Lee Chairperson Declares State of Emergency
SANFORD – At 09:51 today, Amy Dalrymple, Chairperson of the Board of County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency for Lee County due to worsening conditions at the Harris Nuclear Plant.
Dalrymple's proclamation authorizes officials to respond more effectively to the emergency by authorizing county government resources to assist as needed in the response.

Sirens Sounded for Residents to Take Precautionary Measures
A number of precautionary measures have been taken in Lee County in response to a Site Area Emergency declared at the Harris Nuclear Plant near southern Wake County. These precautions, including the sounding of sirens at 09:49, are in compliance with prepared plans at each governmental level.
“While there is no danger at this time to area residents, the state did concur with the decision of emergency management officials in Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Wake counties to sound the sirens and activate the Emergency Alert System to inform residents of conditions at the plant.
“Conditions at the Harris facility are being closely monitored by county, state and federal agencies along with Duke Energy,” said, Shane Seagroves, director of Lee County Emergency Management. Seagroves and his counterparts from various county and state agencies are coordinating response activities from their respective Emergency Operations Centers.
NC EM Director Sprayberry and Representatives of various state and county response agencies are coordinating response activities from their respective emergency operations centers. Conditions at the Harris facility are being closely monitored by state and federal agencies along with Duke Energy.
Gov. Roy Cooper is being advised of the current status, and the Governor has directed the N.C. Emergency Management Division to provide assistance to Lee County officials as needed and to monitor conditions for any possible release of radiation.
All fire, police, rescue and emergency personnel within a ten-mile radius of the plant are on standby. Schools, health care facilities and other public and private institutions
have been informed of the situation and are prepared to take protective actions should they become necessary.”
Residents living within a 10-mile radius of the plant should stay tuned to radio and television stations for emergency information. Residents seeking additional information can call the Joint Information Center at 919-546-5950.

JIC Formed to Provide Coordinated Information
The State and County Emergency Response Teams have activated the Joint Information Center in response to the incident at the Harris Nuclear Plant near southern Wake County. Located at the Duke Energy Customer Service Center in Raleigh, the JIC will coordinate the release of information concerning plant conditions and response activities.
The JIC is a cooperative effort of the Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Wake Counties, State of North Carolina, Federal agencies and Duke Energy.
The media center is located in the same facility and is available to reporters interested in covering the situation at the Harris Plant.

A las 08:17 el miércoles, 26 de abril de 2017 Duke Energy informó a la Agencia de manejo de emergencias de condado de Lee que se declaró una alerta en la Planta Nuclear de Harris de la energía progreso al sur del Condado de Wake. Una alerta es una clasificación de emergencia utilizada por el personal de planta cuando eventos anormales tienen el potencial de afectar el equipo o la salud pública y la seguridad.

Funcionarios del condado dijeron la situación actual en la planta no supone una amenaza para la salud pública y seguridad, y no hay necesidad para las acciones de protección en este momento.

Duke Energy informó a los funcionarios del Condado de un evento hoy en la Planta Nuclear de Harris. Funcionarios del condado están vigilando la situación. Los miembros del equipo de respuesta de emergencia hayan sido notificados y están en camino al centro de operaciones de emergencia del condado donde seguirá vigilando la situación.
